Young singers, dancers and bands from Stevenage take the Gordon Craig stage at 6pm on Saturday 24 October. Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.

Young performers from across Stevenage will take the stage at the Gordon Craig Theatre on Saturday 24 October for a free evening show marking the town’s 80th anniversary as a New Town. Tickets cost nothing, but places have to be booked.

The Stevenage 80 Youth Show runs from 6pm to 9pm, with doors open at 5pm and a 20-minute interval, according to the council’s event listing. It falls on the first Saturday of the October half term.

What is on the bill

The council describes it as “an exciting evening of local talent”, with “live music and dance performances from talented young singers, dancers and bands from across Stevenage”.

Stevenage Borough Council said the show “will bring young performers together on stage, giving them the opportunity to share their talent with family, friends and the wider community”.

“Come along, show your support and help us celebrate the next generation,” the council said.

The acts have not been named yet. “The full programme and running order are being finalised and will be confirmed closer to the event,” the council said. We will add the line-up here when it is published.

The show is organised by the Stevenage Youth Team in partnership with Practice Roomz and Stevenage Borough Council, the listing says, and the council calls it a show that “puts the spotlight on the next generation of performers”.

How to get a ticket

Tickets are free and are booked through Eventbrite, where the event is listed by the council’s Youth Team. When we checked the listing on 20 October, tickets were still available.

  • Where: Gordon Craig Theatre, Lytton Way, Stevenage SG1 1LZ
  • Cost: free, booking required

Anyone with accessibility needs is asked to email the council’s Events Team beforehand “so the theatre can be notified before your arrival”, the listing says. The contact link is on the council’s event page.

What it means for you

If you have a child or grandchild in a Stevenage band, dance group or choir, this is a free night out to see young local performers on the town’s main stage. Book now rather than on the day: the tickets are free, but the council asks everyone to book “to secure your place”.

The youth show is one of a run of events for Stevenage’s 80th year. The next is the launch of 80 Trees for Stevenage at Walden End on Wednesday 28 October, and the rest of the month is in our What’s On in Stevenage guide.
